I Delete Bullies

Oct 31 02:43pm

Hey Girlfriends,

There are some things (without exception) that you just have to do every day - like eating, drinking, breathing and checking MySpace.

Remember how dull MSN and email seemed after you first logged in and started a MySpace profile? Remember the first few weeks of obsessively checking it for new comments every couple of minutes and feeling totally anxious when you didn't have access?

The only thing I remember almost as clearly is the first time the Girlfriend profile got a really nasty post. It was a violent threat from a person we'd never heard of or met. It was scary, weird and just so wrong... And unfortunately it happens to people every single day.

The anonymity of being online can bring out the absolute worst in people. Because they're on the other side of a screen or the other end of a phone, they feel like they can get away with being abusive, cruel or threatening.

Sites like MySpace are ultimately trying to create a positive experience for users - connecting people, sharing information and, most importantly, allowing us to be friends with people like Pete Wentz. Anyway, my point is that this space should be free of people who want to abuse its freedoms and use it to humiliate and intimidate others - and we can make it that way. Join the Girlfriend, MySpace and Boost campaign - read our code of conduct, add our 'I delete bullies' logo to your myspace profile and delete people that perpetuate this kind of pathetic behavior.

Sarah xoxo

This is a serious issue! So it's really important that you make sure your bebo/myspace/facebook is on private so noone you don't know will talk 2 u or threaten u. If you know someone who threatens people or you are that someone, tell a friend or adult and they will be able to help you. Iff we all do our bit to try and stop this, it will stop!

What people don't realise is that screen names have feelings too. And that screen name is connected to a real person with real feelings. Bebo, facebook, Tagged, Myspace - all will have cyberbullies who think they can get away with it. The report button is there for a reason and so are your parents. Don't abuse the rights you have online. Put yourself in another shoes. Do you want to be insulted publicly in a comment on your profile? Didn't think so.

Some people can be so hurtful when they are sitting in front of a computer screen but they seem to find it hard to say the same stuff to a persons face. They need to stop and think and if they arent going to type anything nice they should give their fingers the day off.

i think its wrong to cyberbully, but it happens so much more often than other forms of bullying, not only because you can't often tell who did it but because the bully isn't there to see the victim's reaction. I'm joining, thanks so much girlfriend so responding to such a critical issue so effectively.
great new issue, by the way!
