Why do I go weak at the knees whenever I see a boy play the guitar/sing? Musically Vulnerable, NSW.
Dear Ms Vulnerable
It is true, many women do find men who can sing or play an instrument very attractive. In fact, an official international organisation of women dedicated to the adoration and appreciation of musicians was established in the 1960s. This organisation is known as "Groupies" and they endeavour to satisfy all the needs of professional musicians, as long as said musicians remain famous.
Recently the organisation extended its membership to include male members, inviting Dean Geyer to join their ranks for the wonderful work he has been doing with the Veronicas.
However, the Groupies' organisation is severely lacking in credibility and moral standing and I highly recommend you think twice before becoming a member.
In 1987, researchers from the Male Institute of Chick Stuff* published the results of a survey they conducted into the attractiveness of musicians. They released a report that suggested women are attracted to musicians because they are "sensitive, talented, creative and not afraid to show their emotions."
The Male Institute of Chick Stuff has since released statistics that suggest that between 1987 and 2007 the rates of men receiving singing lessons and teaching themselves to play guitar have increased 4000%.
Ms Vulnerable, the thing that you should be wary of is boys who sing and play guitar only because girls find it attractive. Just because someone can play your favourite Fall Out Boy song doesn't mean they are a nice person. They could be a real Drop Kick Murphy.
