Everyone loves to have a best friend. They are the people who you turn to when times get tough, they are the people you go to for advice about anything from boys to what to wear to what subjects to do, they are the people you share your secrets, dreams and fears with.
But being best friends isn’t always easy, you may not always see eye-to-eye and no one is perfect so mistakes will always be made. BUT a true bestie is worth holding on to, through the good times and the bad.
GF wants to let you in on some secrets which will help you stay best friends until you’re old and grey.
Listen to each other - One of the most important aspects of any relationship is communication. It’s important to be able to listen to each other without judgement and to listen to understand, not just for the sake of providing a pair of ears.
Help each other solve problems - Things aren’t always peachy and part of being a good friend is providing support when things are a little tough, rough or tricky. Give advice, put yourself in your besties shoes and do whatever you can to make things a little easier for them, even if that mean just being there for them.
Besties can disagree without hurting each other - Friends are allowed to disagree, misunderstand and even squabble, in fact that is quite normal. But the key to not letting these things get in the way of a great friendship is making sure things don’t ever turn nasty. Sometimes it’s best to just agree to disagree and remember that you are separate people and you wont always see eye-to-eye…
Respect each other - This means loving each other for the person they are, warts and all. True friendship is when two people have mutual respect for one another, and really care about the each other’s feelings and dreams. Good friends with respect for one another would never put each other down or hurt each other's feelings intentionally.
Good friends are trustworthy - This has to be one of the golden rules of any friendship. For a friendship to be solid, you have to have trust. Trust that your friend will always act in your best interest, and trust that any secrets or confidences that pass between you will be respected enough to stay between the two of you.
In the end it’s quite simple…
To have a good friend you must be a good friend, being besties is a two-way street which means you should always treat your bestest bud they way you would like to be treated.
