Band's birthplace: Summerlin, Las Vegas
* The band got it's first start when then 13 y.o.'s Ross, Wilson (original bass player), and Smith created a band called Pet Salamander, playing Blink-182 covers. This band then became Summerleague Rock. When Brendan joined, they changed their name to Panic! at the Disco and the rest is history!
* The band's name comes from cult 80's indie band The Smiths' song 'Panic'.
* Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz travelled to Las Vegas to see the band perform after they contacted him hoping for exposure. He loved them so much he signed them to the indie label Fueled By Ramen.
* Debut album "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" was released in September 2005, with first single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". The clip for that song then went on to beat out Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the 2006 MTV Awards for Video of the Year.
* The video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" has been streamed from YouTube almost 8 million times!!
* They were known for their 'mock Victorian' circus themed shows, including an entourage of contortionists and dancers on stage, however they are moving towards a more stripped down look.
* While called 'emo' since their launch, the band don't like that term at all, stating in an NME interview that "Emo is bulls**t. We want to be the new Radiohead."
* On January 9th 2008, the exclamation point in the band's name was dropped via an announcement on their official website. Explaining their decision on MTV, the band said: "It was never part of the name to us... When we started doing new promo stuff for this album, we just told everyone not to use it anymore."
* The band's second album "Pretty. Odd." was released worldwide on March 25th, 2008, and reached the top of the charts in the UK, US and Australia.
* In the lead-up to the album's release, the band featured puzzles on their own website and various fansites. Each puzzle featured a portion of the album cover, culminating in the entire cover being disclosed. Pretty kooky!
Panic at the Disco will be touring worldwide in August 2008 (including Australia, woohoo!).
