She's With The Band is the latest title from
Girlfriend Fiction, our very own line of books (woo!). It's filled with cool chicks and cute band boys and is so awesome that we thought we'd chat to
Georgia Clark, the face behind the words. And away we go!
GF: So what sparked the idea for She's With The Band?
Georgia: Starting an electro-something band with two of my besties back when I was a professional hipster. We were the next big thing for, like, seven whole minutes.
If your life had a soundtrack, what would it be?Weezer's Blue album. No wait, Mr G's “Naughty Girl”. Perfect for every occasion.
What's one book you like to keep handy?I keep the Andy Warhol Diaries under my bed. Andy spent most of his time from November 24, 1976 til February 17, 1987 hanging at Studio 54 and making hilarious bitchy comments about other celebs. Loves it.
If you could hold hands with any rock star, who would it be and for how long?Holly Throsby. She's like a beautiful, mysterious bird that's about to become extinct. I'd hold it until she playfully loosened her grip in order to write a lo-fi folk-pop song about her conflicted, rising emotions for me. (Girl crushes are totally in this winter.)
Rainy days are sad but beautiful. What else is sad but beautiful?Lime frosting on burnt vanilla cupcakes. Marilyn Monroe outtakes. Ghostbusters dubbed into Spanish.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?Karen from Will & Grace (duh) or Tyler Durden from Fight Club. He can make soap, run underground anarcho-nihilist collectives and in the end, he's just some nutjob's alter ego! Oh man, have you not read it? I totally spoiled the ending.
You've written a novel, but have you ever written a limerick? It's tough!Haikus are so the new limericks. Here goes:
Soft vampire bats
Gorging themselves on warm blood
Hark! A spring songbird.
