I’m a relative latecomer to the whole Twilight phenomena. By late, I mean, I didn’t see the preview screening with the rest of GF gang nor did I send any photo montages of RPattz on office email. No, much to the GF team’s disbelief, I waited a whole week to see the movie. Like, wow. How’s my self-restraint?

So, how has Twilight affected my life as a beauty ed? Well, I’ve discovered that the Cullens and I share more than being really old: we share beauty philosophies too.

Fair-skinned? Deathly pale? Now’s your time. There’s pretty much only two types of teen movie chicks: The ugly duckling who gets a makeover (step up, Anne Hathaway) and the bitchy/popular/blonde girl with the bouncy hair and perma-tan. And then along came Ed, Bella, and the rest of the vamp gang, suddenly making it cool to be pale, and stay out of the sun. Which is what I’ve been saying all along. The sun, it kills. It destroys vampires. Get into white.

Speaking of skin, I thought the whole “sparkle in the sunlight” skin thing was pretty rad, coz, well I like me a bit of glitter. Okay, so I won’t be recommending full-length body sparkles any time soon but, gosh gee, a bit of glitter makes me happy. And I don’t care if there’s some rule saying you shouldn’t wear sparkles over the age of 25. Whatevs people – if it’s good enough for Ed...

Then there’s Bella. No makeup, no makeover, hell, she barely runs a hairbrush through her mop, and she STILL gets the hot, brooding dude. This movie should go down in the history of awesomeness. The normal girl who gets the guy, without the gasp-inducing makeover. Truly a win for natural beauty.

 

All these points are very close to my heart, but none more so than the thing that cemented my belief that RPattz and I are in fact, kindred spirits. Because he’s officially the only other person I know who openly admits to not washing his hair. *Sigh* He could be my soul mate. Of the hair-cleansing variety. Sure, my non-washing is more three days than his six weeks, but after reading that interview I really “got” him. I’m officially coming out of the hair-washing closet and saying it: I hate washing my hair. Loathe it, despise it, would never do it if I could. And thank you RPattz for making me feel like I can say that.
