Chace Crawford will appear in a remake of 80's classic ‘Footloose’.

The ‘Gossip Girl’ star has signed on for the lead role of Ren McCormack, ending speculation that Zac Efron was going to take on the part made famous by Kevin Bacon - reuniting him with his ‘High School Musical’ director Kenny Ortega - but pulled out because he didn’t want to be typecast as a musical star.

No other casting information has been announced, but Miley Cyrus has been hotly tipped to land the female lead of Ariel Moore, who was originally played by Lori Singer. Amanda Bynes and Hayden Panettiere have reportedly also auditioned for the role.

ha it's going to suck because its got someone from Gossip Girl (worst show) Good on you Zac for dropping out. An actor with diverse tastes is sexy and appealing. You should do dramas. Everyone who spends there teen years and early twenties acting in unoriginal teen movies have no future.

it sucks that zac efron isnt in it =[ =[ =[ =[ =[ =[ but chace is good enough i guess =] zac would be way better though.

YAY!! I love Chace so mush more than Zac. He's gonna be Awesome!!
But, Miley Cyrus? That just kills it.

Awww cheezuz, I was all set to drool over Chace in the upcoming remake, but if Cyrus is in it, I don't know if I'll be able to sit through it without wincing. I have nothing against her, just her music. It holds a tween appeal... It doesn't appeal to me.
