National Youth Tobacco Free Day (NYTFD)

Mar 27 02:08pm

Young people are being encouraged to celebrate National Youth Tobacco Free Day on Friday 27 March 2009 by calling for plain ‘generic’ packaging of tobacco products, to put an end to the tobacco industry’s most powerful form of advertising.

As part of National Youth Tobacco Free Day, young people are urged to go to www.OxyGen.org.au to cast their vote as to whether they think tobacco packaging should be plain for the chance to win signed Hilltop Hoods merchandise and $300 JB Hi-Fi vouchers. The competition is open from 2 February to 17 April 2009.

For great ideas on how you can celebrate National Youth Tobacco Free Day or for more information, go to the OxyGen website at www.OxyGen.org.au

Hey i've grown up in a family of smokers. Its been hard for them to give up but they have their reasons. My sis just gave up yay! I see young people smoking and i feel like their letting their selves go too eaisly. Those young ones are the future, but how will we have a future if their all smokers.

Smoking is a drug, it's an addiction that many struggle to find courage within themselves to give up. With the concept of 'generic' packaging, regular advertisements of 'smokers' lungs and help lines, it gives them a chance. If you know someone help them quite and just be there to support them.
