It’s been one hell of a year. Here’s what rocked and shocked us in ’09...

PROM QUEEN:

And the award goes to... Taylor Swift
It’s official – 2009 was Taylor’s year. In February, her single, “Love Story” became the first country song to top the mainstream Billboard top 40 chart, and she raked in over US$18 million this year alone! But it’s not just her success that has her elevated to prom queen status. Taylor can work the stage like an old pro, and her charm, grace and sweet nature continues to win people over. We heart her.

And the award goes to... SHORT STACK
Not that this is a surprise to anybody, but the boys from Budgewoi have officially cemented themselves in the Australian music industry, with a spot at Homebake, a number one hit album, thousands of fans and their own reality series, Short Stack TV. Expect big things...

Runners-Up: Paramore, McFly

BEST COMEBACK:

And the award goes to... BLINK-182
Having appeared onstage for the first time since 2004 at this year’s Grammy Awards, the band announced they had decided to play music together again, working on a new album and getting themselves ready for a world tour. Fans around the globe rejoiced, and despite the death of their good friend DJ AM, the boys have held their heads high. The band is also working on a documentary, called The Blinkumentary, about their reformation and reunion tour.
