This month's issue comes with a bonus Living Doll scarf!
I'm a really decisive person. I know what i like (sparkly shoes, boys in Converse) and what I really don’t (omelettes, Crocs, and the sound polystyrene makes)... but I do have a problem with limits – I kinda ignore them. Or, rather, see them as a speed bump, not a big fat wall between me and what I really want, which probably explains why this column is always over the word limit. I don’t like restrictions – they’re like skivvies: too tight, ugly, and really hot to wear. Anyway, it was with this – combined with wanting to give you guys the world – that the April issue was born. Way back in the year 2011, we planned this issue. But then, all this crazy-exciting shiz started happening and we had to include it ALL. And I don’t know if you noticed, but we kinda have this thing called a page count we have to adhere to. That’s a pretty big speed bump. But to that, I said, “Pffft – let’s include everything!”.

First up is Girlfriend’s National Compliments Day (April 16), which is probably definitely the best day ever! Seriously, I even rate it over my birthday, coz you don’t have to fake loving the gift (or, er, compliment), and you get waaay more self-esteem boosting love than any birthday.

These almost make me WANT to pluck my brows. Almost. Tweezerman Harajuku Lovers Tweezers, $42.95, (02) 9666 3611
Initially, this issue had a completely different theme, but just as we’d started working on it, we found out that my BIGGEST OBSESSION SINCE PEANUT BUTTER M&Ms was coming out in theatres in time for this issue. Yes, I’m talking about The Hunger Games... and I won’t lie – I have an unhealthy obsession with Katniss. I’ve even started braiding my hair, and have seriously considered taking up archery. If only I could convince my boy to become a baker. Kidding... sort of.
And that’s how the tribute edition to The Hunger Games was born. Because, through every lengthy debate about which weapon is best, if Finnick is really all that, or whether baking is more useful in a boy than hunting, one thing the GF office agrees on is that it’s gonna be massive.

GF teamed up with talented Radelaidian lass Indy at Indie Designs to create these freakin’ awesome postcards. I know what I’ll be handing out on National Compliments Day! Get five for $7.95 at justsayincards.com.au.
And then, just as I was happily rocking this issue to sleep, this little band from the UK decided to announce an Australian tour. I think you’ve heard of them – One Direction? Cue sleepovers in the GF office as we worked overtime to bring you guys more of what you want: five cute-as Brit boys who can sing me to sleep any day.
So, this issue goes out to you guys... because we listen, because we go crazy for everything you love, and because you deserve to be complimented and told you’re amazing (or, er, amazayn) Every. Single. Day.
